With the summer heat comes sizzling summer golf deals for those of us who call Apache Junction, Gold Canyon and Pinal County home all year long.

Here are three summer golf deals just too hard to take a mulligan on.

Apache Stronghold G.C.

According to legend, the Apache Stronghold was created by the God Usen as a region abundant with everything the Apache people would need to survive. Guarded by the Chiricahuas, Aravaipas, Superstition and White Mountains, the Stronghold was a mystical haven in which the Apaches could walk invisibly among their enemies. Now, this virtually untouched area is open to the public.

Apache Stronghold Golf Course was painstakingly designed by award-winning architect Tom Doak. Natural beauty has been preserved at every juncture, including 14 archaeological sites.

The championship course offers five sets of tees that can play from 5,535 to a whopping 7,519 yards. From the back tees, two par 5s measure over 600 yards each. Then there’s the picturesque par-3 14th, a modified Redan hole set atop a 90-foot ridge at the southern end of the course.

Apache Stronghold is the centerpiece of the Apache Gold Resort, which features a Best Western Hotel plus state of the art casino with slots, poker and blackjack games. The golf facilities include a grass range and large putting green, plus small pro shop and snack area/lounge. Stay and Play packages are offered year round but this summer deal sizzles. For just $99, you can get a one-night stay at the casino, a round of golf on Apache Stronghold, one breakfast, one dinner, one drink coupon and even $10 of free play at the casino.

To book your next tee time at Apache Stronghold or to inquire about their many stayand-play packages, call 1-800-272-2438.

Apache Gold Casino and Apache Stronghold Golf Club are located five miles east of Globe on Highway 70 in San Carlos. The elevation is 3,200 feet which means cooler temperatures too.

Sunland Springs Village G.C.

If you are looking for variety, fun, the chance to shoot some low scores, and summer golf bargains, look no further than Sunland Springs Village Golf Course, located at 11061 E Medina in Mesa (on Baseline, just east of Signal Butte).

Sunland Springs Village offers three executive nine-hole courses. The Four Peaks course measures 2,165 yards  and plays to a 31 par. The Superstition nine is 2,269 yards and plays to a 32 par. And the San Tan nine is the longest, at 2.463 yards, and plays to a par of 33.

Sunland Springs Village Golf Course also features a driving range, chipping and putting greens, snack shop, full service pro shop with clothing, shoes and equipment sales, and PGA instruction from long-time professional Gary Humphrey. In the winter months, they offer men’s, women’s and couple’s leagues.

The current advertised rates through June 17 are as follows:  Before 10:30 a.m – $9 for nine holes walking, $13 for nine holes w/cart, $12 for 18 holes walking, and $18 for 18 holes w/cart. After 10:30 a.m. – $7 for nine holes walking, $12 for nine holes w/cart, $10 for 18 holes walking, and $15 for 18 holes w/cart.

To book your next tee time at Sunland Springs Golf Course, call the pro shop at (480) 984-4209. For more details about the course and amenities, visit their website at www.sunlandsprings.com/golf.

Apache Creek Golf Club

The closest golf course is also one of the most popular and best places to play. Everyone knows about the par-3 6th – the island green, but the ‘Creek’ located at 3401 S. Ironwood Drive in Apache Junction offers a whole lot more, including one of the busiest driving ranges you will find.

A meandering creek (hence the name) comes into play on several of the holes of this championship layout that measures from 5,315 to 6,363 yards and plays to a par of 71.

The course is described as a “turf-style desert course, with transitional areas framing the fairways, making accurate tee shots an absolute must.”

Apache Creek Golf Club includes two practice putting greens, a practice chipping green with bunker, a full-service pro shop, snack bar and grill, club fitting and repair, the popular men’s and women’s clubs, PGA instruction – gee, no wonder it is one of the most popular courses to host charity golf tournaments. They are also the #1 Titleist and Footjoy dealers in Arizona.

Apache Creek Golf Club offers some of the most competitive summer rates around.

Currently, before noon, the 18-hole rate with cart is just $29. After 12:00 p.m., the rate drops to $25.

Apache Creek also offers one of the more enticing summer memberships. For just a $100 membership initiation fee, you will get one free round of golf,  a golf shirt and hat, plus a discounted rate of golf w/cart for just $15 Monday through Friday or $20 on weekends through the end of September. And that also includes the Creek’s sister course, Los Colinas Golf Club in Queen Creek.

For more information about Apache Creek Golf Club, call the pro shop at (480) 982-2677 or visit their website at www.apachecreekgc.com.
